Clarke Controls, a leading provider of commercial Energy Management Systems (EMS), is helping Wickes significantly reduce its energy consumption and make major strides towards its sustainability goals. Through the installation of advanced heating controls at over 200 sites across the UK, Wickes is on track to achieve substantial energy and cost savings.
Cutting-Edge Heating Controls Driving Efficiency
The large-scale project involved the installation of 100 new EMS units and the upgrade of 100 existing systems. Clarke Controls’ state-of-the-art zoned heating technology optimises energy use by targeting specific areas, preventing unnecessary heating and reducing waste.
The system is expected to cut heating energy consumption by around 25% across all sites, lowering Wickes’ carbon footprint while maintaining a comfortable working environment for its employees.
Significant Sustainability and Cost Savings
By prioritising energy efficiency, Wickes is not only reducing its environmental impact but also unlocking major financial benefits. The reduced energy usage will translate into lower heating costs year after year, demonstrating that sustainability and economic efficiency go hand in hand.
Ceri Davies, Head of Procurement at Wickes, praised the results of the partnership:
“Decarbonising our sites is an essential part of our Built to Last responsible business strategy – and this means taking steps to reduce our energy use and cut waste wherever we can. Clarke Controls have transformed the way we control our heating at sites around the UK – making the systems more efficient and targeted to keep wasted energy to a minimum. The initial results are very promising, and we’re on track to deliver significant energy, carbon and cost savings, year after year.”
A Proven Approach to Energy Management
Clive Bodenham, Managing Director at Clarke Controls, highlighted the project’s impact:
“The role of our heating controls is simple – to help customers save energy, cut costs and reduce carbon while keeping their workforce warm and comfortable.
“The Wickes project is a perfect example of how we help businesses. In buildings with large open areas, heating and lighting can make up 75% or more of total energy consumption. Our system has a proven history of reducing this by 25% or more across hundreds of sites. Any company looking to cut emissions and save on energy costs should make this a priority.”
